Andrew is the founder and CEO of the Basement Crowd. He also founded FromCounsel. He is an active angel investor and sits on a number of boards. He is a former non-executive director of Touchtype Limited (the provider of the Swiftkey keyboard) which was acquired by Microsoft in 2016 and was one of the founders of CPDcast.com Limited which was acquired by Informa Plc in 2010.
Previously a Project Operations Manager for the launch of a new mobile advertising tracking application for Somo Global, George worked with international teams on operational strategy, branding, market positioning and product pricing. Prior to that, George was the Director of Operations for CPDcast, a startup he ran on a day-to-day basis from inception through to acquisition and integration into Informa plc. He oversaw the creation of the legal training product from scratch and was responsible for business planning and corporate development. He also prepared the due diligence for the sale of CPDcast and managed the integration of the company into Informa Law.
Before joining, Rob spent 4 years working as a senior engineer at an investment management start-up in London, building a cutting edge trading platform and market place for money managers. Prior to that, Rob spent 6 years working as a technical consultant at Accenture, working on a range of technology-driven, client-facing projects based across Europe. Rob holds a BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from the University of Birmingham.
Before joining FromCounsel and the Basement Crowd, Gonzalo moved to London, from his native Spain, to work for McGraw-Hill Financial, in a business unit generating Mutual Funds reports (Java web development and VB macro software personalization). Prior to this move he worked in both the public (Spanish Ministry of Labour) and private sector (IT consultancy company Getronics). Gonzalo holds a postgraduate MSc qualification from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
Before joining Basement Crowd, Krzysztof spent 7 years working as Web Developer in various start-ups and advertising agencies. Prior to becoming a Developer, he graduated from University of Wroclaw with an MSc in Theoretical Mathematics.
Before joining Basement Crowd, James spent five years working as a developer in the financial sector, creating software for the stockbroking and wealth management industries. He has worked with a wide range of languages and technologies, most recently Java and Scala on the JVM. Prior to beginning his career as a software engineer, James graduated with a degree in Physics from Oxford University.
Emily initially worked as the Product Manager for Basement Crowd’s product, FromCounsel, before getting big corporate experience and moving to Penguin Random House. After being a Product Manager at Penguin and working across multiple B2C projects for some of the world’s most well-known authors, Emily returned to Basement Crowd to work on Juriosity from a strategic and BD perspective. She enjoys the overlap of product and strategy, with a sharp consumer focus. Emily holds a degree in Politics from the University of Cambridge.
Tanya has spent the past 5 years heavily involved in the European tech industry. She’s won university awards for her research into and contribution to the industry. Tanya has worked with various high profile tech startups whilst completing her university degree from the University of Edinburgh, studying Politics with a focus on AI and the sharing economy. Tanya was an exchange student at a specialist entrepreneurship institute in Northern Germany, where she became heavily involved with Startup Weekend, Techstars and Google for Entrepreneurs. Outside of tech, Tanya is a Tedx curator and has recently curated TedxCamden.
Beth graduated from Oxford with a degree in PPE before learning to code and becoming a software developer. Since then she’s spent three years at a London-based marketing agency working on campaigns for various brands. She joined Basement Crowd after spending several months freelancing as an app developer.
Prior to joining Basement Crowd, Artur was a Java programmer at Ovo Energy. He attended Warsaw University of Technology.
Piotr moved to London in 2014. Before joining Basement Crowd he worked as a back-end developer for various companies including Gumtree UK. His experience is mainly in JVM-based environment but he has also worked with many other technologies and languages.Piotr graduated from University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland with an MSc in Computer Science.
Before Basement Crowd, Chris worked within the PRM/CMM tech industry in Oxford. A reformed scientist, she has a Chemistry & Mathematics MSci from UCL and experimented in a Neuroscience PhD within Germany.
Prior to joining Basement Crowd, Tom worked as a software engineer in the music publishing industry. He has experience with a broad range of languages, specialising in the JVM. Tom graduated from the University of York with a MEng in Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence.
Huw has spent most of his career working in various roles across the Ministry of Justice, and the past 6 years at the Royal Courts of Justice working in the role of Companies Court Caseworker. In this role he advised the judiciary, court staff and court users in areas of law dealt with by the Companies Court including Company Winding Up, Schemes of Arrangement, Reductions of Capital and Cross-Border Mergers. Huw is currently assisting FromCounsel in the creation of Precedents in relation to the areas of Company Law he previously worked in. Furthermore, Huw conducts business analysis, research and testing for our various software products.
Mesfin is a software developer for Basement Crowd. Prior to joining the company, he worked in the healthcare publishing industry for 3 years, his main focus being on developing and maintaining content pipelines for the British National Formulary. Mesfin holds a BSc in Computer Science from Queen Mary University of London.
Aiden had spent time working at several start-ups as well as working for NGO Greenpeace before joining Basement Crowd. His time at Greenpeace involved data analysis and examining methods for how further support could be generated. Prior to this, Aiden obtained a BSc in Business Management from the University of East Anglia.
Before joining Basement Crowd, Alexa worked in the finance department of a creative content and branding agency based in London. Prior to this,
she graduated with a degree in Performance from the University of East Anglia.
